What we do

Specialist labour relations services, tailored to your organisation.

From day-to-day advice to complex collective processes, we work as both expert and collaborative soundboard — practical on the problem at hand, strategic on the long term outcome.

01

Consulting

We provide expert employment relations advice and expertise to our clients to enable them to make the best decisions for their business. Each client situation warrants our full engagement as we serve as both expert and collaborative soundboard. Our problem solving approach is both practical and strategic: we assist with the problem at hand, whilst also ensuring the best long term outcome.

We understand that solving the same problem over and over is expensive and time consuming, so we prefer to work with our clients to solve core problems rather than treat the symptoms.

Our consulting services are not limited to organisations of a particular size, but we do specialise in small businesses and small business owners. We understand the unique challenges faced by small business owners in South Africa and provide advice that is cost efficient, personalised and flexible.

Although we consult on an ad hoc basis, we prefer to work on a retainer so we can fully understand your business and implement sustainable solutions. Our goal is to, over time, equip our clients with the knowledge and tools to need us less.

02

Labour Legislation Compliance

Intricate and complex employment regulations can be frustrating. We provide our clients with the necessary information and compliance tools in a way that is easy to understand and apply. Non compliance can become an unnecessary expense. We ensure compliance without stifling business growth.

  • Company specific contracts of employment
  • Assistance with compliance orders
  • Assistance with all employment related procedures
  • Drafting agreements and policies
  • Labour legislation training
03

Training & Development

We offer a variety of interactive training workshops and information sessions aimed at empowering individuals and organisations to proactively identify, manage and resolve workplace and employment relations challenges before they become complex issues. Our programmes are practical, informative and tailored to each client.

  • Focused labour law sessions on dismissals, disciplinary action, unfair discrimination and strikes
  • Managing discipline and performance for supervisors and managers
  • Employee and trade union representative training

  • Conflict management and interpersonal relations
  • Communication skills training
04

Discipline & Misconduct

Misconduct and inappropriate behaviour can negatively impact organisational performance, workplace morale and productivity. We provide comprehensive labour relations and organisational support services to assist clients in effectively managing disciplinary matters and workplace misconduct.

We offer professional advice and expert guidance on specific incidents as well as recurring behavioural issues, assisting clients in applying progressive disciplinary measures in a fair, lawful and effective manner in accordance with organisational policies and South African labour legislation.

Through professionalism, strategic problem-solving and practical expertise, we help organisations maintain fair, productive and compliant workplace environments.

05

Performance Management & Incapacity

Managing employee performance from an employment relations perspective involves addressing poor work performance, incapacity matters and other workplace challenges in a fair, lawful and professional manner. We facilitate the necessary procedures to ensure both procedural and substantive fairness in line with South African labour legislation and best practice.

We work closely with employers to ensure that incapacity and performance processes are handled with fairness, sensitivity, confidentiality and compliance — balancing operational requirements with employee rights.

  • Medical conditions and chronic illnesses
  • Workplace injuries and physical incapacity
  • Psychological and emotional disorders
  • Temporary or permanent disability-related matters
  • Invalid or expired work permits
  • Incapacity arising from incarceration or legal restrictions
06

Negotiation

The purpose of negotiation is to resolve disputes, address differences and reach mutually beneficial agreements. In employment relations, negotiations commonly involve wages, benefits, workplace policies and terms and conditions of employment. With evolving workplace trends and economic pressures, organisations increasingly adopt collaborative, solution-focused approaches such as joint problem-solving and integrative negotiation.

  • Representation in individual and collective negotiations
  • Wage and salary negotiations
  • Negotiations relating to terms and conditions of employment
  • Drafting and reviewing negotiation and settlement agreements
  • Facilitation of joint problem-solving and consultative discussions
  • Labour relations advisory services during negotiation processes
  • Workplace conflict resolution and consensus-building
07

Restructuring & Retrenchment

When an employer contemplates dismissing employees for operational requirements, a specific consultation process prescribed by the Labour Relations Act must be followed. We manage the entire retrenchment process in a fair, lawful and professional manner, guiding consultations from commencement to conclusion.

Restructuring often requires changes to positions, reporting structures, departments and terms of employment. Such changes cannot be implemented unilaterally. We facilitate restructuring consultations that balance organisational objectives with employee wellbeing and workplace stability.

  • Facilitation of retrenchment and restructuring consultations
  • Guidance on compliance with the Labour Relations Act
  • Drafting notices, agreements and consultation documentation
  • Representation during consultations and negotiations
  • Advice on alternatives to retrenchment and cost-saving measures
  • Support with severance packages and settlement agreements
  • Change management, transition and communication strategies
  • Workforce planning and operational realignment
08

Conflict Management

Conflict is a natural part of any employment relationship. Left unresolved it damages relationships, productivity and performance. Managed effectively, it creates opportunities for growth, innovation and improved communication.

We provide professional conflict management services on both an individual and collective level, resolving workplace disputes constructively while maintaining healthy employment relationships.

  • Handling and facilitation of workplace grievances
  • Conflict management and communication workshops
  • Managing the impact of mergers, restructuring and relocations
  • Facilitation of negotiations and consultations
  • Representation during trade union negotiations and collective bargaining
